Benefits of Gayatri Mantra Chanting

Chanting the Gayatri Mantra regularly enables us to accumulate spiritual light, and we raise our vibratory level and those around us, including our friends, family, and community. It also improves concentration, keeps us from negativity, and fastens the healing process. The below-mentioned points will help you understand the importance of the Gayatri Mantra:

1. Calms the Mind

Gayatri Mantra starts with ‘Om’, and its enunciation sends a vibration through our palate, lips, skull, tongue, and throat. This is extremely calming to the mind and releases relaxing hormones. Also, the syllables of this mantra help us concentrate and see things clearly. This relieves us from tension and calms our minds.

2. Enhances Concentration and Learning

When we chant Gayatri Mantra, it activates three chakras- the third eye, throat, and crown. These three chakras are directly related to the brain, lower head, penial gland (crown chakra), thyroid gland (throat chakra), eyes, pituitary gland (third eye chakra), and sinuses.

These lands deal with focus and remove distractions, thereby increasing concentration. This is among the major Gayatri Mantra benefits for students and can help them learn faster.

3. Improves Functioning of the Nervous System

While chanting Gayatri Mantra, we put pressure on our throat, tongue, lips, and vocal cord. The connecting area in and around our brain creates a resonance that strengthens and stimulates the functioning of our nervous system.

Our brain releases neurotransmitters to stimulate these vibrations, and our nerves function more healthily.

4. Helps Relieve the Symptoms of Asthma

As we chant the mantra, we take deep breaths and hold our breath for s short duration, which strengthens our lungs. Reciting Gayatri Mantra regularly can be an effective therapy to treat symptoms of asthma.

5. Keeps Our Hearts Healthy

Among various chanting Gayatri Mantra benefits, this one is the most critical. Chanting mantra slows down, synchronises our breathing, and regulates blood pumping to the heart, keeping it healthy.

The synchronised beating and functioning of the heart with baroreflex sensitivity (a mechanism that keeps our blood pressure in check) are parameters that help us avoid heart diseases.

6. Improves Our Breathing

It is also advisable to practice Pranayama before Gayatri Mantra chanting to open our breathing airways. If you follow an online yoga course, your instructor will also advise you the same.

Moreover, chanting requires us to take deep, controlled breaths, which expands our lungs and improves functioning. It also oxygenates the body and keeps us hale and hearty.

7. Keeps Stress at Bay

Chanting the mantra helps stimulate the functioning of the vagus nerve, a common treatment for people with depression and epilepsy. Also, the vibrations from chanting stimulate the penial body and release endorphins and other relaxing hormones. Hence, relieving us from depression and stress. It keeps us more focused and calm.
